Decatur – Dale Richard. Elliott, 77, of Decatur passed away at 2:25a.m., Friday October 22, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

 

A service celebrating Dale’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Bruer officiating.  Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Harristown with full military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till service time at the church.  Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with services.  The family suggests memorials be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Dale was born October 7, 1933, in Decatur the son of Lloyd John Thomas and Lois Marie (Wyatt) Elliott. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School.   He married Jeannette H. Vogt on October 4, 1957.  He was a retired supervisor from A.E. Staley Co. having worked in the Sweetener Division.

 

Dale had served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife and had been to 48 states in the continental U.S.  He was also a member of the Staley Retirees Club.

 

Surviving is his wife: Jeannette of Decatur; children: Sandy Gosnell and her husband Tim of Mt. Zion and Bill Elliott and his wife Kris of Champaign; grandchildren: Stacey Rohman and her husband Brad of Mt. Zion, Melissa Gosnell of Missouri, Michael Elliott of Chicago, Erin Gosnell of Decatur, Elizabeth Elliott of Champaign, and Katherine Elliott of Champaign; great-grandchildren: Devin Gosnell-Roberts, Payton Gosnell-Roberts, Alex Rohman and Andrew Rohman.

 

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his grandson: Nicholas.
